Boom's Taxonomy

The Best Education when the students are challenged. Blooms Taxonomy helps educators develop critical thinking and higher order cognitive abilities in students( Blooms 2008). In order to provide a framework of the objective, the teacher can build their lesson through blooms Taxonomy. And the most important point that we shed light on, is that the first levels of thinking must be mastered before the next one , from the simple one to the complex level to  guide students to higher level of thinking.

The Link Between the First two levels of thinking.
The first the level of thinking that can be adopted by teachers in classroom is knowing(knowledge). This level of thinking activates students background in order to build on the previous ones , in other words, recall  basic concepts related to the subject of interest. Age(2009) stated that you would need the prerequisites of knowledge how to walk before you would learn to run , which means learning information without the proper prerequisites can be challenging of understanding which is the next level higher up. Moreover Comprehension as a higher level of thinking  ensures students understanding where they can restate the facts and interpret it using their own words.
Example:
Science Teacher in Grade ten started her lesson by stating on the Board examples ( Tomato juice - Detergents- vinegar- .... ) and asked the students to classify the above solutions  into acidic and basic solutions. The students were very motivated and encouraged in the discussion and some of them said we take in in grade eight. This level of thinking activated their background knowledge. After that the teacher told the students today we are going to differentiate between acids and bases experimentally and you will come up to the conclusion. She prepared three solutions with different types of materials .At the end on the experiment the students stated the definition of acids and base as a result of what they have seen in the lab and relate it with the examples stated at the Board at the beginning of the period . All of above, reminds us with the comprehension as a level of thinking.

  1. I believe Bloom's taxonomy is one of the best theories that reflect human's needs in general and students' needs in particular; and I believe what made of this theory one of the best is that it reflects the needs that we never been aware of! Thank you for sharing these information with us.

  2. Indeed this theory helps the teacher a lot in doing his/her work. Our job is to use it in the best way possible.

  3. Bloom's Taxonomy is the base on which all other educational approaches rely on. Unfortunately, most of the teachers follow only the first three steps of Bloom's level of thinking continuum which basically concentrates on knowledge and memorization. Highest levels are the most important cognitively in which students think outside of the box and beyond the simple facts so that they become familiar with more complex levels thinking which require the understanding of concepts, theories and performing hypotheses.

Jacob Kounin Theory

Jacob Kounin theory was that the teacher should have the ability to manage the students behavior through different strategies and techniques. The Teacher by designing an effective lesson plan, will be providing classroom management, and the key is not in dealing with misbehavior rather than preventing them before they occur. There are many ways to design an effective lesson where the teacher should be attentive and make sure that all the students are involved all the time in the lesson and the activities. The main key ideas in the Kounin Model are: 1. The ripple Effect 2. With-it-ness 3. Overlapping 4. Effective transitions 5. Group Focus 5. Satiation The most I like is the with-It-ness concept which is a term made by kounin to describe how the teacher is attentive. To him, the Teacher should be able to know what is going on in all areas of the classroom as if he/she is with all the students. Being that much attentive , as a teacher, and communicating that to the students throu

Giftedness

Gifted Students: Children are gifted when their ability is significantly above the norm of their Age.They exist in all societies and countries despite their economic and educational level. It is up to us as adults and teachers to know how to deal with gifted individuals to maximize their intellectual abilities.  The most Common Characteristics of Gifted students: Excellent memory and thinking abilities  High curiosity Level  Creativity and High imagination  Preferring o work independently even being good in leadership Being Easily bored with routine tasks They have an unusual advanced vocabulary for their age or grade level  Being Self-motivated  Learning Basic skills quickly and with little practice      Recommendation For Teachers: Make  the Curriculum student-Centered. It is important that teachers in the very beginning of the year make a complete interest inventory. In this way , teachers can be sure that the curriculum will be personalized to their interest.
